Staff

We are in the process of hiring highly qualified, experienced classroom teachers, assistant teachers and specialists.  Each Kindergarten and First and Second Grade class will have a teacher and a full time assistant teacher.  Second through Fifth Grade classes will have a part time assistant teacher.  Specialist teachers will teach Spanish, music, physical education, English Language (for speakers of other languages) and special needs.

Frances DeWindt
Office Manager

Ms. DeWindt received her A.A.S. Degree in Paralegal Studies.  She has four years experience in Marketing Administration, she has worked in Corporate America as head of research and has also been head of her own research company.  Her background in Administrative Research will bring a different aspect and new ideas to our school.

Yesenia Roque
Office Assistant

Yesenia Roque is currently pursuing her B.A. in Human Services. She has three years experience in an office environment. She enjoys being around children and looks forward to further her career in education.

Anthony Lothian
Director of Operations

Mr. Lothian earned his bachelor degree in Banking and Finance from Hofstra University. Has 5 years of experience as a school business manager for the NYC Department of Education and several years experience in corporate America.

TEACHERS

Karella Balazs, our spanish teacher, earned her B.A. in Spanish & Cultural Anthropology at Binghampton University, her M.A. in foreign Language Education and a second M.A. in Educational Psychology at SUNY in Albany, N.Y.  She has been an Adjunct Professor (foreign languages) at Hudson Valley Community College, and taught at Berlin Junior Senior High School, and schools in Troy and Mamaroneck, N.Y.

Eric C. Gentry, our physical education teacher, earned his BS from the University of Oregon and MA from Oregon State University.  He has many years of experience serving schools in New Rochelle, NY, and Corvallis and Albany in Oregon.  In addition to class work, Eric has been Head Coach in Baseball, Basketball, Football, Volleyball, and Soccer.

Annette Keane has her B.A. from Boston College, her M.Ed from City College of New York, and continues her advanced training in Early Childhood Education at New York University.  She has had 4 years of experience as a 1st Grade teacher along with serving as lead Teacher of the GO Project at a New York City public school.

Eunice Kim has a B.S. in Elementary Education from St. John's University and an M.A. in Literacy Education from Queens College.  She has been an After-School Reading Teacher, a Private Tutor (K-9), a Pre-K head teacher, and Kindergarten and 2nd Grade Teach in New York City public schools.

Daniel Osborne has a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from S.U.N.Y on New Paltz, NY, an M.A. in Childhood Education from C.U.N.Y.  City College, along with certificates in Child Abuse and Violence Prevention.  He has taught at The Robert F. Wagner Jr. Public School, in Long Island City, and at P.S. 305 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Jean Pallister, our Special Education teacher, has a B.A. in English and Literature from the University of Chicago, and an M.S. in Childhood Education, concentrating on Special Education.  She has been a Special Education Support Services Provider, and Academic Intervention Support Provider at PS 205 Dr. Peter Ray School/Teach for America in Brooklyn, and Corps Member Advisor at the Teach for America Summer Institute in New York.

Andrew J. Parsons was a Summa Cum  Laude recipient of his B.A. in International Relations and Spanish at Syracuse University, and a Magna Cum Laude M.S. in Teaching at Pace University in New York.  He is from a small town outside Scranton, PA.  He has been a First Grade Teacher and Teach for America Corps Member at Achievement First East New York Elementary in New York City.

Julie Pearson has her B.A. in Elementary Education from Arizona State University.  She interned and later worked as a 2nd Grade Teacher at Canyon Rim Elementary School, Gilbert Schools in Arizona.  She has also been a Private Tutor, and a Volunteer Worker at the TJ Pappas Elementary School for homeless children.

Marcia A. Saucedo has a B.A. of Education degree focused on early Childhood Education, and a M.Ed (Learning Disabilities and Reading) from DePaul University in Chicago.  She has taught basic Spanish skills to 1st Graders at All-Stars, Chicago Public Schools, and was a 1st Grade Teacher at Wentworth Elementary on Chicago's South Side.

David Tuss, our music teacher, earned Summa Cum Laude status gaining his B.A. Music Education Degree at Ohio State University.  He has taught young children at Hilliard City, Dayton, and Columbus, Ohio public schools.  He taught music in a Brooklyn elementary school last year.  Primarily a classically trained violinist, he engages children as a guitarist, pianist, drummer and singer of, among other things, folk music.

William C. Vargas, our English teacher, has a B.A. from Long Island University, and and M.S. in Education in Teaching English as a Second Language from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.  Fluent in Spanish, he has developed and implemented Individual Lesson Plans for children in Grades K-5.  He is a Member of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.

SOCIAL WORKER

Nicole Osei has a B.A. in English at Barnard College, and M.S. W. in Social Work from Columbia University.  She was a Team Leader/Teacher with Teach for America in Baltimore, MD. She did an Internship at the Harlem Hospital Center in New York, and another as a School Counselor at Partnership with Children in New York City.  An MSW, she served as Clinical Supervisor at Wedico Children's Services in Windsor, New Hampshire.

ASSISTANT TEACHERS

TECCS has a full complement of Assistant Teachers - one for each class.

They are Anastasia Allen, Paula Dominguez, Kamara Morris, Cyslin Pajares, Lavern Paul, and Deborah Snyder.

This remarkable cadre has an extraordinarily diverse background with skills ranging from Library Specialist, Basketball Coach, Computers, Psychology, Jewelry Making, Culinary Arts, and, of course, Early Childhood Education.
